In nearly thirty countries around the world, citizenship can only be passed down through the father. This means that when he goes missing, migrates or is lost in conflict, the children are left in limbo. According to the UN there are hundreds of thousands of children who do not have documentation in the country they were born in because of these outdated laws. Read more here.
